Meet Your Professors
Seth L. Scott
Columbia International University
Dr. Scott joined the Seminary and School of Counseling faculty of Columbia International University in 2019, and presently serves as the Associate Dean and Counseling Program Director, Professor of Counselor Education, and Associate Director of Chinese Clinical Counseling. Seth teaches in the areas of research, faith integration, addiction, psychopathology, and clinical practice for the M.A. program and research, counselor identity, faith integration, and counselor education in the Ph.D.
Dr. Scott received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision at Walden University, his M.A. in Community Counseling at Regent University, and his B.S. in Biblical Studies & Intercultural Studies at Emmaus Bible College.
He is an active member and participant of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS), American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), and the American Counseling Association (ACA). He also maintains a private practice, Sunrise Counseling, for both clinical work and supervision in the community, specializing in identity development, adolescence, parenting, marriage, and addiction.
Seth seeks to provide kingdom impact through service to, for, and through the church, providing training and support to pastors. He has served as a pastor and elder in previous churches and is now a member at Riverside Community Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He has been married to his wife, Jen, since 2003 and they have two children. Seth spends as much time as possible reading, doing home repairs and remodeling, camping, and playing board games.

Jonathan P. Badgett

Dr. Badgett is the founder of The Care Institute. He is also the Chair and CEO of the Cornerstone Foundation, whose mission is to mend, strengthen, and build lives, especially among the broken, the vulnerable, and the young. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Director of The Garden, a nonprofit counseling practice offering clinically informed, biblically grounded Telehealth care. Over his two decades of pastoral counseling, Dr. Badgett developed his specialization working with adult survivors of chronic childhood abuse diagnosed with complex traumatic stress disorders.
Dr. Badgett received his Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology, Master of Theology, and Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He has made presentations or read papers before the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS), the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS), and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Dr. Badgett is the author of Mirrors of Self: Human Personhood in Christological Perspective and the forthcoming Better Shepherds: A Call to the Church and Those Who Lead.
Jonathan is committed to equipping the church with the theological resources and clinical wisdom needed to care for a hurting world. He and his wife, Alison, have four children and reside in Georgia.
Paul Loosemore
Covenant Theological Seminary
Dr. Paul Loosemore is the Counseling Program Director at Covenant Theological Seminary, an Associate Professor of Counseling, and conducts therapy and supervision. His work centers around theoretical and practical integration of Christianity in the psychology field where he is an active participant and researcher.
Dr. Loosemore is a licensed professional counselor and has a decade of professional counseling experience, including years of experience as a counseling supervisor and professor.
Dr. Loosemore received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision at Regent University and his M.A. in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary.
His specialties and publications include research from a spiritual worldview, mentorship, human growth and development, and suicide prevention. Additionally, he holds advanced training in EMDR, EFT, CAMS, Gottman Method, and AEDP. Dr Loosemore also consults with churches and ministries on mental health and prevention.
Dr. Loosemore is a licensed professional counselor and has a decade of professional counseling experience, including years of experience as a counseling supervisor and professor.

Dan Sartor

Dr. Dan Sartor is the founder of Renewal Leadership Solutions, LLC, and Clinical Director at The Wings Center at Eagle Ranch. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and a board-certified counselor with nearly 30 years of experience in mental health care. Dan is a past Vice President and Professor of Counseling at Richmont Graduate University and has been featured on WebMD as a subject matter expert on trauma.
Dan holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Biola University, Rosemead School of Psychology, and a M.A. in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. He earned a M.B.A. from Kennesaw State University. Dan completed his B.A. in Church Music from Moody Bible Institute, with a minor in biblical and theological studies.
Dan continues to provide direct psychological care and clinical supervision through The Wings Center at Eagle Ranch in Northeast Metro Atlanta, where he leads a remarkable team of professional counselors. He also provides executive coaching, corporate training, program evaluation, consultation, and clinical supervision to domestic and international organizations on trauma-informed care, complex trauma, vicarious trauma, and compassion satisfaction through Renewal Leadership Solutions, LLC, which exists to facilitate the transformation of organizations and communities by sourcing leaders with the knowledge, skills, and insights to promote flourishing for themselves and others throughout their spheres of influence.

Ki Chae
Wheaton College
Dr. Ki Chae is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and counselor educator who serves as Program Director and Associate Professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Wheaton College. He earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the College of William & Mary and has extensive experience as a counselor, supervisor, and educator specializing in couples and family therapy, relational dynamics, and faith-integrated clinical practice.
Dr. Chae’s clinical and scholarly work centers on marital and family relationships, including attachment-based couple therapy, family systems theory, addiction and its impact on families, and culturally responsive interventions for relational healing. He has received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. His work with couples and families is informed by a deep commitment to helping clients strengthen emotional bonds, improve communication, repair relational injuries, and cultivate resilience within marital and family systems.
Dr. Chae has taught and supervised graduate-level courses in family systems theory, counseling theories, assessment, and addictions, and has provided clinical supervision to practicum and internship students across multiple institutions. He has maintained active clinical involvement as a licensed counselor, working with individuals, couples, and families in community and faith-based settings.
Dr. Chae’s research and publications address topics such as family therapy processes, counselor supervision, multicultural and international counseling, mental health access in underserved and rural communities, and the relational dimensions of addiction and trauma. He has led and contributed to numerous funded projects that support families, churches, and communities through mental health education, prevention, and intervention initiatives.

Jackie E. Perry

Dr. Jackie Perry is a Clinical Mental Health
Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor, Professor of Counseling at Columbia
International University, and Founder and President of The SoulWell Center, a
nonprofit organization based in Asheville, North Carolina. Her work focuses on
counselor education, supervision, and the development of embodied listening
practices that support emotional regulation, narrative integration, and
relational safety.
Dr. Perry is the developer of The Attuned Listener Course, a practical training used by The SoulWell Center to strengthen listening skills and cultivate emotionally safe, relationally responsive spaces. She regularly provides seminars and continuing education workshops for counselors, supervisors, educators, and faith-based organizations, with particular emphasis on family systems, adolescent development, and the application of biopsychosocial frameworks to relational care.
Her scholarly and applied interests integrate clinical practice, developmental theory, and research-informed approaches to emotional and relational functioning. In 2019, Dr. Perry published The Heart Cry of Every Teen, which examines core emotional needs underlying adolescent behavior and offers a relational framework for supporting youth and their caregivers.
Dr. Perry lives in Asheville with her husband, John, her college sweetheart. Together they have three adult children and one granddaughter. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and spending time in the North Carolina mountains.

Benjamin Mathew

With his family from India and being born and raised in Canada, Dr. Ben Mathew has always appreciated the integration of cultures and ideas and was blessed to be involved in several ministries in his home, church, and community. With degrees in Counseling, Psychology, and Theology, Ben also enjoys the integration and collaboration of various academic disciplines.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Emmaus University and continued his graduate work at Dallas Theological Seminary, earning an M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the JFK School of Psychology and Social Sciences at National University. Ben worked in the Dallas area for several years in private practice and at the nationally known Minirth Clinic, specializing in adolescent rehab and treatment of mental health issues. For the past two decades, Ben has been involved in higher education, helping to develop students and others to think critically and holistically about their faith, profession, and care for others.
Ben is a Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) and, with over 20 years of experience in higher education and clinical counseling, currently serves as a Professor of Counselor Education in the School of Counseling (M.A. & Ph.D.) at Columbia International University.
